I'm completely lost on what to get my niece. I was going to buy her a week's stay @ a Paris hotel until my wife stopped me. Help, oh please help me?

Haven't we gone over this before? You have to ask her parents, then it is really easy from there.

Get her an iPod or a PSP. Kids love electronics.

Right now my 9 YOA niece is into clothes, clothes, and more clothes. She actually asked my wife and I not to get her any toys, just some "cool" outfits. While "cool" can obviously vary greatly by region, here in the upper midwest (USA) is apparently refers to bell bottom jeans and brand name sweaters. Don't know if this helps in your situation...

My niece, who is around 9 or 10, is getting into fashion. My wife and i recently bought her a bunch of earrings - the magnetic kind. they make it LOOK like she has pierced ears, but she doesn't.

we also got her a little metal thing that she's supposed to use to HOLD her magnetic earrings.

My extended family gets together on Christmas Eve for dinner and a gift exchange. At some point, we made a rule that aunts and uncles give books to nieces and nephews. This avoids a really obscene pile of toys and saves a bit of the 'magic' for a more intimate Christmas morning family affair. This has worked really well for us.

Good luck, and Happy Holidays!

P.S. I've also given gift subscriptions for magazines - Ranger Rick and the like. Kids love to get their very own mail.

Awesome! Thanks all. My niece does seem to be all about 'cool' these days, so that's perfect. Thanks

My sister is a blackbelt, and a scrapper, and has been kicking my butt on a regular basis for some thirty odd years now. No thanks .

So anyway, the kids got.

1. Robosapian
2. A book on Java Robot programming(my nephew is 6, but my sister swears she's been reading him to sleep with it).
3. two iPods
4. three Bratz thingos.
5. A pocket mirror from Paris.

eesh!

Wait... how does your sister actually read the Java Robot Programming book to your nephew.. ?

"Ok, son... here it goes, System.out.println("Hello World");" ?

I am very curious about it...
