Please tell me why this error occurs when I try to commit the code in svn.

Someone has defined a pre-commit hook, which is code that runs on the Subversion server before your changes are committed. Hooks like this are used to do things like enforce shop coding standards and refuse commits to offending code.

Apparently the pre-commit hook code that has been installed on your Subversion server has a bug in it.

You need to contact the Subversion administrator.

Thanks Tim !
The log message that I entered for the commit was invalid. So the hook wouldnt let me commit.

Yup, that's the kind of things hooks are supposed to enforce. I think that you probably SHOULD have gotten back an actual usable error message, though. Something like "Commit rejected, comment does not conform to shop standards.",

which is why I said there's probably a bug in the hook routine.
