people often say "like father, like son"

i also heard "like person, lke car"

i guess it is reasonable to say "like person, like name". well, to some extent.

anyway, each time i heard 'nicole', i like to associate a hollywood star.

so, what is your favorite female name?

like father, like son

Example of this cliche: Son comes home and tracks mud across the floor because he forgot to wipe his feet. Dad-o get pissed and makes it known how inappropriate that behaviour is in his house. Suddenly Mom appears from her busy chores and announces, with a grin, "Like father, like son!!!". At which time she smacks Dad with her kitchen towel. While son, disappears realizing he just dodged a bullet...

Favorite girl names: Brianna, Benedicta, Audrey, Nicolette, to name a few.

Charlie: but only extremely beautiful girls who drink beer from a bottle seem to be able to carry it off.

We had all boys (never could follow a pattern very well) but held 'Poly Esther' in reserve for our first girl...

I have three daughter-in-laws: Tara, Hiedi, Jaclin; three granddaughters: Matisan Taite, Taylor Marie, Toby Dawn. (three more on the way - yet to be named) Now my boys can follow a pattern!!

More beautiful names a fellow has never heard!

In a friend's family, they had two girls: Faith and Hope, and they were all set to name the third girl Charity, when it turned out to be a boy, so they named him ... (drum roll)... Gary. I still laugh about that: Faith, Hope and Gary.

Anyone out there name their child "Java"? I understand Bean has been done already...

Just to verify... are any of these sarcastic?

I've always thought of one out of each of those pairs (Bertha and Mildred) to be old lady names. I'm ambivilent about Ruth; it's not in my top ten, but I see it as basically a modern name. In contrast, I'd put Gretchen right up there with Emily, Emma, and Natalie.

Rachel is another one that sounds old but is making a comeback.

Two things:
1. I'd hesitate to name my daughter after a pop song fromthe the 80's.
2. We had a dog that would lean against whoever was petting her. When she did that we'd call here Eileen (I lean).

Where'd ya come up with those?

Three guys I've lived with, my dad, my brother and my college roomate, all married women named Sylvia. You can bet it caused some confusion leading to some Three's Company type situations when my brother and his new wife had to move in with my parents for a few months AND my sister-in-law worked in the same office as my mom:
- Ringggggg
- Hello.
- Is Sylvia there?
- Which one?
- Sylvia McGuire.
- Which one?
- The one that works at the insurance agency.
- Which one?
etc.

I used to think that Kristin was exotic enough with out being too strange. But I've met about a half-dozen Kristins within the last couple years, so it's lost some of it's edge.

My contributions:
- Alison.
- Emily.

I'm trying to convince my wife that if we have a daughter, we should name her with our middle names, Lee and Ann making Leann. Yeah, that'd be cool.
