Jasper is predominantly used to create HTML, PDF, RTF and such formats. What would an AJAX call do with those results?

My requirement is :
I have a progress bar thats shown in JSP till the time the report is generated.
Then I will have to hide the 'progress bar' and show the report.

Hence the need for AJAX
