anyone passed the SCJP 1.6

should I go for 1.5 or 1.6?

is SCJP 1.6 tougher than SCJP 1.5 ?

Hi Hicham! Welcome to javaranch.

Well you MUST go for SCJP 6. There's minor changes between SCJP 5 and 6. Only few API classes, that's it. Also the passing criteria in SCJP 6 has been increased from 59 to 65%.

You can find further details in the ScjpFaq...

If you dont have any other compelling reason like an ongoing project which requires SCJP 5 certified professional or future projects it is always good to go for the latest. there isin't much difference between SCJP 5or6 here are few differences mentioned below.

Comparison of SCJP5.0 and SCJP6.0
Number of questions:
*SCJP 5.0 - 72
*SCJP 6.0 - 72

Time:
*SCJP 5.0 - 175 minutes
*SCJP 6.0 - 210 minutes

Passing score:
*SCJP 5.0 - 59% (43 of 72 questions)
*SCJP 6.0 - 65% (47 of 72 questions)

Exam Objectives:
SCJP 5.0 - exam is based on the following objectives:
*Declaration, Initialization and Scoping
*Flow Control
*API Contents
*Concurrency
*OO Concepts
*Collections/Generics
*Fundamentals
SCJP 6.0 - Objectives of SCJP 6.0 are almost same as SCJP 5.0 except few changes which introduce new topics like Console (API Contents),
NavigableSet, and NavigableMap (Collections/Generics) and removed the overridden methods and constructor from "OO Concepts".
Objectives - The seven categories of objectives for the exam are as follows:
*Declarations, initialization, and scoping
*Flow control
*API contents
*Object-oriented concepts
*Fundamentals

Cost:
*SCJP 5.0 - USD 150 (or locally priced)
*SCJP 6.0 - USD 300 (or locally priced)

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
