>20 years. But without knowing the rules. A mother just brought a cricket bat from a visit in England as a gift for her son who was friend of mine. We played it more with baseball rules. It was big fun. Great game for summer. [ February 08, 2006: Message edited by: Axel Janssen ]

The best game ever invented.
Runs are scored by the type & amount of alcohol one person consumes (like a full bottle of beer is six runs, one shot of vodka is one run and so on). Every one in the team drinks, and the runs are added up to their team score.
Every time a person urinates, it is considered to be a wicket.
We use to play this game. Most of the matches will end in a draw. We will run out of money before a team loses 10 wickets
About 10 years ago. My son was playing cricket at school, and the teachers arranged a "parents versus sons" match. It ended in a draw (as per the manipulations of the teachers) and I made the catch of the match. One of the boys turned and drove the ball straight at me. I didn't have time to dodge so I just caught it.

You remind me of a friend in school who was a self-proclaimed fast bowler. He would always psyche us out for our slow pace and would sometimes compare himself to Malcom Marshall, Imran Khan. In a tournament final, he turned the game in our opponent's favour by giving away 31 runs in an over while they were chasing a total of 75 (in 15 overs) and were trailing us (23-4 in 8 overs and by the environment, we were the favourites). He bowled one ball in the direction of the third slip. He tried to bowl a bouncer and the ball pitched right in front of him and did not even cross half pitch and came to a halt before the centre of the pitch and we argued about rules whether the batsman was entitled to a free hit. And his beamers were way above the wicketkeeper's reach. And so on...And the thing is that the guy believed that the umpires conspired against him and our team for the loss. Of course, I don't believe you could beat that.

Hi Vjy chin,
I am in Frederick. But I can definitely drive down for a game of cricket. Where do you live? Do we have a team or is just the two of us
If not, I think we should start a thread to organize a team.

My team captain very rarely allowed me to bowl in a real match, sometimes when he gets annoyed by the other bowlers he used to ask me sameer hit that batsman's head with your bowl and when I target batsman head it is always a good length bowl.

There are some cricket leagues in and around the Wash DC area. Look on Activities in Craigslist for Wash DC postings on Cricket. You would find some guys had posted adds about the league. Send them a mail and they'll get in touch with you.
They play during the weekends and their season is going to start in March.
Hope the information helps. If you need their email address, let me know.
