Custom Runtime JMX MBeans in JBoss?

All,

Back when I worked on WebLogic I created an MBean project that could be included with each service. This project was a runtime MBean that contained 12 counters, but could be extended. I then used the WebLogic Scripting Tool to read the counters and feed them into our enterprise metric system.

Does anyone have information about runtime MBeans on JBoss? It should be possible as jmx-console allows me to read the MBeans from our servers remotely and there are counters indicating the number of invocations for our services.

Ideally I need a solution that will work on JBoss and Tomcat but I'll do one at a time.

Thanks,
Bill S.

What documentation have you looked at so far? I hate to post a link to something you have already seen.

To be specific:

I have to use JBoss 4.0.4.

I'm looking at the JBoss WIKI: http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-10543
Unfortunately, when I get deep enough I hit missing or empty pages: http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-12303

The JBoss 4.0.4 doc: http://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/jboss4guide/r5/html/ch2.chapter.html

I think you are looking for a complete MBean example, how about this: http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-9712
