JBoss AS 5.0 moved many files that NetBeans uses to locate domians (configurations). See this recent post for some help (yes, that post is for NetBeans 6.5, but the workaround should work for 6.1)

Hi,i have added the server to netbeans. While trying to run the server(JBoss) through netbeans,m getting following error:"[ClassLoaderManager] Unexpected error during load ofrg.jboss.resource.metadata.repository.DefaultJCAMetaDataRepository
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file".

This means that you are using an older JDK. JBoss AS 5.0 comes as two binary variants - one for JDK6 and the other for JDK5. The JDK6 variant requires that you use JDK6. My guess is that you downloaded the JDK6 variant but are running it with JDK 5(*). NetBeans lets you select the JDK you want to use to run the server, just look at the server properties.

(*) The JVM used to tell you the version number which made deciphering the error easier. Now it just says "bad version number". What a giant step backwards...

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
