Hi Java Ranchers,
I am preparing for SCJP.
I do not know whether to take 1.5 or 1.6.
But I feel comfortable to take 1.5.
should I have to take SCJP 1.6 to take exams like SCWCD,SCBCD in future or Is SCJP 1.5 enough???

Thanks

Any version will be ok to take other certifications.

But I feel comfortable to take 1.5.

1.6 doesn't change much. If you feel comfortable with 1.5, you should check what's changed in 1.6 and go for it instead.

The version doesn't matter. If you are SCJP certified (any version), you can do the SCWCD exam (any version).

The SCJP certification is valid for 3 years only, isn't it? Can we give SCWCD etc even after 3 years of clearing SCJP?

No. Who told you that? Sun's SCWCD page says:
To achieve this certification, candidates must successfully complete one exam. Prior to attempting certification, candidates must be certified as a Sun Certified Programmer (SCJP), any edition.

It does not say that your SCJP certificate must be less than 3 years old. Also, Sun's certification pages do not mention anywhere that any of the certificates expires after a certain time. Your SCJP certificate never expires.

As far as I remember, there's an expiration date on my certificate. I'll verify that and let you know.

Did you put it in the fridge ? ;)

Sun's certifications expiration date were removed since August 1st 2003, and replaced by version numbers instead. I can't find the FAQ in English...

Aha, I didn't know that. I did my SCJP in May 2001 (long ago, SCJP 1.2!), and my certificate does not have an expiration date. After looking at the FAQ, maybe they had expiration dates only between September 2002 and August 2003?
