I buy coconut in orissa,mp,wb for just 5 to 8 rupees.
But in kerala ( produce heavy amount of coconut.) we can't get coconut in price less than 10. Even it goes to 15 Rs. sometimes.

Can any body please tell the reason.

One of the factor is that Kerala is the biggest tourist destination of India.

Now-a-days, coconut comes to Kerala from other states like Tamilnadu. That could be one reason.

Coconut is not subsidized in Kerala but the other state government gives 30-50% subsidy as it comes in the basic necessity products in those states (one cant live without it) but Kerala government thinks Keralites can afford to live without coconut so there is no need to give reduction. This budget contained some proposition to standardize the coconut prices across the country due to the severe protest done by the mallus so that they should also get some subsidy.

Cheer up its Friday.

My home in Kerala is in the middle of two acres of coconut trees, and they (harvest?) a few thousand coconuts every year. Let me know if any ranchers need a few coconuts!

If it is in ur roof top, then within some days, the coconut tree will remain and house would collapse.

Keralians need to take "right-turn" in this time's election, if they want to have cheap coconut

Keralites feel they should give everyone a chance, and they keep electing both sides alternatively. Its very rare to see same side winning continuously. May be because they don't want any one particular side to get too big that they would come in their way of life (which being earning a living outside Kerala).
