Using MySQL REGEXP or RLIKE operations in HQL queries?

There is a very old JIRA request to use the MySQL dialect-specific RLIKE and REGEXP operators in HQL (see here). According to this, it was implemented, but I can't find any references anywhere on how exactly to use it.

Can anyone provide an HQL example using the MySQL REGEXP operator in the WHERE clause?
