Hello everybody,

I'm new to this forum. I'm going to take the SCJP6 certification this year. Started to learn about two weeks ago and so far really like the SCJP6 book, however I just reached chapter 2 Although I've been programming Java in my free time several years now, I already learned new things!

In chapter 2, page 97 I read an interesting statement

The cost to deliver a software application has been estimated to be as much as ten times more expensive for poorly designed programs.

I was wondering if you have a source for this claim? I would really like to use this in a document about software quality standards I'm currently writing for my company.

Thank you very much!

Hi Sven,

I must confess that I've lost track of the reference to that quote. But I just did a quick google search on the phrase "cost of bad software design" and got a bunch of useful articles. I think that with a little googling you'll have no problem supporting such a statement.

Good luck,

Bert

Why do you need a source for this? Anyway why don't you mention the SCJP6 book chapter 2, page 97 ?

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
