Just started with: Sun Certified Developer for the Java 2 Platform: Application Submission (Version 1.3.3) URLyBird

Description says concerning db-file:

All numeric values are stored in the header information use the formats of the DataInputStream and DataOutputStream classes.


Can I use RandomAccessFile instead of DataInputStream/DataOutputStream ?
