I`d congratulate winners but have also question to forum staff.
Does automated process qualifying messages for win work fine? I`ve noticed that 2 of 4 winners in this case have neither ask nor answer or comment question about the promoted book. So I doubt if this whole "book promotion competition" has any sense...

Yes. In fact it's been heavily tested recently since we moved to new software.

The rules clearly state "Start a new topic or respond to a topic in the Forum where the promotion is running. Your post must be on topic for either the book or the forum to be eligible to win." The winning posts were on the topic of IDEs.

We're happy; the publishers are happy; the authors are happy. I think it makes sense. From the publisher/author's point of view the book was promoted - there was an e-mail, banner and plenty of visibility about the book in the forum. From our point of view, four of our members won a free book. See - no problem.

Also, many folks got to ask questions of highly experienced people, the answers of which are here for everybody to see. I think that may be the biggest benefit for the community. That a few people got to win books is -in my opinion- just the icing on the cake.
