I can't decide. They are like my babies, I love them both equally.

If the game used a real guitar, I would be all over it. This Guitar Hero thing is much like Dance Dance Revolution, which is something I also enjoy... but I think the GH's controls are nothing more than a few fat buttons at the top of the neck. Perhaps I could swing by my local GameWorks sometime soon and see if I'm wrong.
Someone should make a game like this that can read MIDI. It would make practice so much fun I think I would burst!

Well, I play sax instead of guitar. I've had mine for about 35 years, it's regarded as one of the best models ever made and according to EBay it's appreciating in dollar value every day. I love my computer activities, but I could use another one in a heartbeat. Not the sax.
A good question is never answered. It is not a bolt to be tightened into place but a seed to be planted and to bear more seed toward the hope of greening the landscape of the idea. John Ciardi

While the buttons are not "guitar" like. If you try to play the Hard or Expert levels, you will get a great guitar workout for using your pinky. Something that would be very helpful. And it is a blast.
Computers come and go, but guitars are lifelong friends. Especially my first 1982 Fender "Smith" Strat (black with maple). We've been through a lot together.

ok, NOW I'm interested. My pinkies are rather small and slightly deformed (the last joint to the tip of the finger curves oddly toward my ring finger), so I've always favored it less than I should. Although my pinkies DO seem to lock a little, producing a sweet snapping motion when I hammer-on with it!
Anyway... I'll check it out.
Hey, I remember J2ME having a MIDI API. I would assume such a thing also exists in J2SE somewhere... or someone made something open source. I'm curious to make the dumb MIDI game myself. I'd have done it a long time ago but I kept assuming that someone else would beat me to it cause, well, that's what happens to all my other great ideas.
