Does anyone know how I can change security settings to allow javascript to open html on my local harddrive?

Hmm...What does it mean when you say
allow javascript to open html on my local harddrive?
.

If you mean that you are opening a Html file on your local computer and Internet Explorer (thats your browser right?) is displaying a warning that you don't want displayed, here is what you need to do.

Open Internet Explorer --> Tools --> Advance Tab --> Security --> Allow active content to run in files on My Computer
Click Apply and Ok and restart IE.
