How spoiled I have become (together with many of you here )...

"Spoiled" with broadband access to the Internet.

Right now I am in a cheap motel in Coral Gables (Miami), Florida connected via a regular modem and the dslreports.com site (the server here in Miami) tells me that I am connected at 22Kbps!

Probably a combination of the hotel and its telephone cabling being very old, and BellSouth indifference.

I saw in their website "Free High Speed Internet Access!". They were not lying but it's all wireless.

I know that in an old dump like this wireless makes a lot of sense but I was expecting a wired Ethernet LAN connection as I get in modern hotels.

I have nothing against wireless but (1) I don't know who's staying in the next room(s) and (2) I don't have time to research the particular configuration.

So I didn't bother bringing my wireless PC card adapter for this old notebook. The new notebook that I have does have a built-in b/g adapter but I didn't want to bring it.

Of course this is a (short) business trip and no vacation...

That sounds to me like not being connected.

That's fast for Florida.

South Florida is one of the most desirable places to live in so I don't get your joke.

And I get 4M+ download speed where I live in Delray Beach.

California sucks.

Are you sure you don't want to trade that for 30-below winters? (I guess that would be -28.8.)

I prefer places with no computers when I'm away from home. Better yet if there's no cellphone reception and television either.
Even better if there's no radio and telephones as well.

Mee too. But if it's a business trip then I want the opposite... he he...
