I think, James A. Gosling, the father of the Java programming language thought as follows
The first exports of Indonesian coffee from Java to the Netherlands occurred in 1711.
By drinking lot of coffee man get addicted, same time its benefit also lot( i get this).
Same for java programming language, by this language man get lots of benefits, so he get addicted to use it only.
So this coffee cup symbol/logo use by Sun Microsystem for Java Programming language.
Millions saw the apple fall, but Newton asked why.

Thankx dear friendz...............Thanks for your valuable suggestions...........
Actually the java develepment team called Green project consisting of james gosling, patrick naughton, chris wrath,ed frank and mike sheridan used to hav tea at a coffee shop called java.dats how the name came and the symbol too....
According to this article Java got its name from a bunch of marketing guys tossing out a bunch of names and Gosling and the rest of the team ranking them. I've seen that story a few times, and at least one of them was from a source I considered authoritative, though I can't recall if it was Gosling himself or somebody else.
I've heard the story that it came from the name of a coffee shop, too. Tried to find the original reference -- a particular long history document written by someone who was there -- but can't. If I come across it again I'll repost.
