I have a 16 gig, 64 bit Ubuntu system and i'm wondering if the Java SE has a maxium heap size?

If you have a 64-bit JVM, the limit is very large (much larger than 16GB!). If you have a 32-bit JVM, the limit is around 2.7GB.
