Someone just woke up that thread by replying to an eight-year-old post. The eight-year-old post was made using an earlier version of UBB, which was upgraded many years ago, and then recently migrated to this format. So there are several different ways things could have gone screwy, and I don't really think it's worth trying to track it down.

Although the post was 8 years ago, the users last post was "only 1.5 years ago." More importantly I wanted to make sure it wasn't a sign of a more widespread problem so I did take the five minutes to look into it at the JForum end.

The symptom was two spaces between "ranch" and "hand". It only affected this one user and is now fixed for this user.

I don't know what the root of the problem was in the old system and as EFH said, I don't think that's worth looking into since we won't be migrating again.
