Hi Guys,
I was completely surprised by the two different styles maintained by the same authors.........
Head First is a theory book while Guide is truly a perfect guide.....
I think when a person writes a theory book in such a elucidate manner ,is that not difficult for him to stick to the exact content or to restrict himself to a particular exam content........
Great Work Guys ........you did that with ease.........
Any comments?

Like you said, the guide serves as a "guide". But I do also find that other books under the head first series might help serve as guides. The HF design patterns book is a nice guide even though the format is brain friendly. I still lookup class diagrams in that book when in doubt

I think they are both superb Java references. Remember, HeadFirst is Designed for a comprehensive introduction to the Java Programming language, whilst SCJP is designed to reach certification. Thus for me atleast, the differences of style, whilst not so detached, none the less meet the goals of each book. Certification in my opinion warrants a more structured and formal approach as it must meet the requirements of the Sun curriculum, and surely faces a more rigid specification.
