Some question on SCJD

Hi greenhorns !

I've just cleared the SCJP, and want go for the SCJD route.

Since the SCJP exam I done was for Java 6, I guess I should attempt to get a SCJD also for java 6, right ?

But all the SCJD study guide books I see around, none is aimed at Java 6. Which book should I look for, to get good prepared for the SCWD ? And are there different SCJD "versions" to choose ?

As you can see, I'm a bit confused on this topic. I've also read the FAQ, but didn't find the answers to these questions.

Thanks in advance,
Sergio.

Hi Sergio

At the present time there are 2 SCJD versions available for Java 1.1 and Java 2. The Java 2 assignment is the one you should sign up for.

I used java version 1.6.0_12 when coding my assignment, you just have to make sure the Java version you use is no later than 18 months before the
current production version.

There are only a couple of books that cover the SCJD exam in any depth (1 by Andrew Monkhouse/Terry Camerlengo and the other by Alain Trottier).

This forum is also an excellent source of information and is worth trawling through when you are ready to start the SCJD assignment

Link to the apress-site for Monkhouse book: scjd-book

The other book is Exam Cram 2 Java 2 Developer by Alain Trottier.

Cheers Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
many thanks for your reply.

I'm taking the Monkhouse/Camerlengo route right now.

Are you also entering the SCJD challenge ? If so, perhaps we could share our experiences

All the best,
Sergio.
