If you read JLS, it will be good for you. I didn't read JLS and I think I scored good

Agree. JLS can be skipped. Refer it only for specific topics such as Enum, Object etc...

I used the JLS for areas which I found tough. Although its not mandatory for the exam, it won't hurt to use it as a reference
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
