After a session has expired, I need to open up a dialog box that gives the user two minutes to reset the timeout counter or the session will expire.

Any suggestions or tutorials that I can use to code this up? Can this functionality be done with JSF components or is Javascript needed?

Make use of Javascript's setTimeout() function in combination with HttpSession#getMaxInactiveInterval().
