TIJ 3 problem at simpeltest

hi,

i m working my way through tij 3 . Until now everyting went okay , but I can t make c03 assgigment.java run .
And yes i googled it already, but the results didn t help me out .

Can enyone help my?

Hi,

it is the first exercice from the book Thinking in java from Bruce eckel .

And the error that i get is:

Assigment . Java : cannot find symbol
symbol : method expect ( java.lang.String[])
location class Test
monitor.expect (new String[] {

???

can you help

That looks like a compiler error.

Have you downloaded any code from Eckel's website? There is a set of classes which make it easier to run those examples, and you would need them.
What methods have you got in the monitor object? Have a look at them, and see how they are spelt The tiniest error will prevent your code from compiling.

the package must be accessible while running the code sample i guess you must also get the import error while running this example not just the one error as you have specified
anyways forget the code its of no use just for displaying proper Output format just use the code i have given below it will work fine got it!

thanks for informing, i know that already i told Jean that he might have not specified that error now do you get it.

Are you tryin to increase msg count rather answer his question

I found and downloaded the code from Eckel's website also thanks to Java Ranch
. I set the calsspath land compield it the code from the TIJ site . But i am still getting the error
discribed above .
