For <label name="xyz" value="XYZ"> type input, parameters.get("xyz") returns null. Does that make sense ? should it throw exception ?

The <label> element is not an input element.
Input elements are at least <input>, <select> and <textarea>.

Indeed, name and value are not valid attributes of <label>.
