What is the different between EJB server and EJB container?

Aren't they the same? Why there are 2 roles related to EJB server/container in the specification?

i think the server is responsible for the network communication, messaging and such
while the container take care of supporting EJB3 features.
usually it's the same vendor that do both tasks.

The difference between those two roles are in a conceptual-level.
