OOP-3 SortNames wording

Pauline has asked me to create a thread about OOP-3 and the wording (which I misunderstood).
Here's the part of the assignment text that confused me:

The reason I was thrown off course was that I considered the ArrayList to be completely unmodifiable according to the instructions and the Collections methods do affect the internal order of the ArrayList.
So you can imagine my dilema. In my first attempt I made a copy of the ArrayList and worked on that. Apart from that, the overall design was on track.
NITPICK: " For this assignment I want you to use the ArrayList without making copies of it.
So then I moved on to even wilder possibilities, all the while convinced the ArrayList couldn't be touched, culminating in attempt 3 which prints out the names in order without re-ordering the arraylist AND using a method from the Collections class! (I'm proud of that one and I'd love to post it but I don't want to give anything away.)
When that bounced back I realised I was not only up the creek without a paddle but I was in the wrong creek!! So I e-mailed Marilyn to clear up some doubts after which I passed on attempt 4
The wording of the assignments is generally excellent but I got lost on this one. I was wondering if the same happened to anyone else?

Here's a thread on the same topic. There's a post by JdJ referencing a similar such conversation.
I remembered this conversation and found it by searching on "SortNames wording".

Thanks for the link (and the search) Mike.
Those threads include a couple suggestions for rewording the assignment. Would those have helped you Terry? Any other suggestions?
I had seen those threads before really going at SortNames, so I don't even know if I would have been thrown off by the wording. The search feature can be a real time saver (and headache preventer).

Well I must admit I've never used a search for any of the assignments. I might just start now.
I agree. Here's the link:
