JMS with respect to QueueRecievier.recieve

Message message = consumer.receive(1000);
I had difficulties in understanding the above code .
Will the QueueRecievier would wait 10 secs in interval for receiving each Message ??

If the recievier has exceeded 10 secs , will i get any Exception ??
Anybody on this please ???

If the timeout expires, you get a null. It's in the API...
