Well don't know what format they put theirs in or exactly how much information they had in their files. On the other hand, if I just use point form and just describe the essential (must) topics I guess I too can get it to like 10K:
RMI vs Sockets? Choose RMI because:
* point A...
* point B..
Search algorithm logic:
1) bla
2) bla
Locking mechanism logic:
1) bla
2) bla
So it really how you "present" the information.

My document was way too long (no surprises there). But if I were to do it over, I would definitely use bullet points. Not only is this going to be easier for the assessor to digest (and keeping the assessor happy is a good thing), but it is also easier to write your "essay" answers if you only have to match the bullet points.
For anyone who's native language is not English, I think bullet points are a no brainer: do you really want to spend hours agonizing over the "correct" way to say something in English when a bullet point can be written in a few short minutes?
Regards, Andrew
