Ajax4JSf ar4:poll resets the h:form

I'm using the a4j:poll command in the h:form which has to update a h
utputText which displays the progress of a long process on the server.
This works fine and updates the h
utputText which I have set as a id which has to be reRendered.
Only by rendering of the h
utputText other fields are reset to the values which the backing bean has before any changes are made on the h:form
I have solved this by also re rendering the other fields of the h:form within the poll component, which is rather a strange solution
My question is:
Is this normal behaviour of the a4j:poll component or is there a better solution for this?
