Hi,

I ma working on my personal laptop. I am unable to start any service using net start <servicename> on windows vista.

i am getting the following error.

System error 5. Access is denied.

Is there any service/process that should be started for using this command?

i searched google. i think netlogon service should be started. but i am unable to start this.

Thanks in advance,
Susmitha.

Firstly make sure that you are logged in as administrator.
The netlogon service starts automatically.
You can check if it is running from the Task manager->Services tab.

Hope this helps

By default, you don't have all the administrative privileges when logged in as an administrator in Vista. You may have to find the Command Prompt in the Start menu, right click on it, and choose to run it as an administrator to use the net command.
