This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
I just passed the OMG UML Fundamental certification with around 91%. Hooray!!
My learning resources were the book from Weilkiens and Oestereich, and another book from Mr. Skulschus called "UML 2 Zertifizierung - Arbeitsbuch zur Fundamental-Prüfung" (I think it is only available in german). Additionally, I looked up some diagrams in the spec.
The Weilkiens/Oestereich book ist very well structured and good to read, and is surely the main learning source for the exam. However my impression was that some questions could not be answered by the book contents alone.
Thanks to you folks for interesting discussions and answers. I am around here for questions.
I am glad to see someone clear OMG UML certification as this is not a very common area where techies try to get cerified.
Heartiest Congratulations !!
I am looking to clear this exam by Dec 2009 and have started my studies today. I am currently referring UML 2 in a Nutshell by Wrox publication. I would purchase the Weilkiens and Oestereich book soon as I have seen most guys recommend that book for a comprehensive learning approach.
My question to you is, how much time it would take to prepare and pass the intermediate level exam if I am starting my studies now. Please note, I have a java programming background but no experience in design or architecture but I still want to go for this unique certification as I think it would be useful for long term career goals.
Please can you also suggest a strategy to clear and score in this exam.
