Applet "hangs" after hitting Reload

For some reason after hitting the Reload button in the browser, the whole applet window becomes gray and non-responsive.
However, restarting works - the applet is successfully loaded and run when I re-enter the URL.

The same goes with Eclipse Applet Viewer - the window closes without any errors when I click Reload.
Restart seems to work just fine.

I was even able to reproduce this with an empty applet:

The actual code can be checked out from here:

I'm using:

Eclipse 3.2.2
Firefox 3.0.7
sun-java6-jre
sun-java6-jdk

All suggestions are welcome,
Thank You

Ok,

I just found out that it works in Windows Vista at least..

Tested it with IE, Firefox and Opera.

Opera is a bit slow with the applet, but it works.

IE and Firefox are able to handle the Reload correctly.

However, the Eclipse Applet Viewer still crashes (just disappears and leaves all the threads running).

Weird that it didn't work that well in linux. I hope that clients won't have problems with this..

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
