Hi All

I am planning to take the Test 253. Are there any sample questions ? They raised the sample test to $30 now, it used to be $10/- before.
Any help is appreciated

HI,
I have around 5years of j2ee programming experience. worked with WAS . Never did the admin part though. I want to know to work with server configuatrations and do this certification. Do any one have any material and question papers regarding this. I have downloaded WAS and am playing with its configurations in my PC. Are there any more docs/pdfs to follow. Any recent takers/gurus of the exam. Please Advice

Hi,

I have around 6years of java, J2ee programming experience. I have worked with WAS 5. But only deployment part. I have never done any admin part. Now I want to appear WAS 6.1 administrator certification. I have required environment. I can practice without any training. My doubt is can I clear this certification without admin experience? Can any one suggest good material? I have downloaded 'WAS 6.1 Configuration and Management' from IBM RedBooks. Please Advice.

Thank you
Jagan

The exam is tough, but a good grounding in J2EE concepts will definitely go a long way.

Also, good knowledge about how to deploy to server, do some clustering, and set up JNDI names and references is important.

The test is like a flooded river - it's wide, but not particulaly deep at any one point. Your WebSphere Administration experience will go a long way in helping you pass.

Thanks Cameron. I have only deployment exp in WAS 5.0. For me, which exam is suitable? Exam 252 (WAS6.0) or 253 (WAS6.1)? I heard that Exam 252 will retire in June. Should I go for Exam 253?

Thanks

I might go for the 6.0 certification.

The 'retirement' thing has never bothered me. The Java 1.1 certification on my CV is the certification I'm most proud of. I'd rather go into a job interview and say "I've been certified since version 1.1, and have been using it ever since 1998" than go in as a greenhorn who just got their Java 6 cert.

I think many of the concepts will be fairly similar between the two exams. J2EE didn't really change all that much, although WebSphere did see some nice usability improvements.

Best of luck!
