Problem getting started with learning web services Technology

Hi guys

I am having problem with learing webservices technology, please suggest me good sites where i can learn the basic and also tell me how to implement it in my project.
I am currently unemployed and therefore am trying to increase my knowledge. For this i am trying to build an application in tomcat and want to use web services for it.
