Hi all,
I find great difficulty in understanding when an object becomes eligible for garbage collection. I am not able to look at the code and find out .

Draw a map of what is happening to find out which object becomes eligible for garbage collection.

Yes..Drawing map is the best way to learn it. Basically you must know how objects are referenced and when the reference is taken off.
Also try searching questions on GC in javaranch, I am sure we have many quality questions being answered.
