Hello Ranchers,

I am planning to do SCDJWS and SCBCD exams.
I've already completed SCWCD5 with 88%.
So, can anyone please advice me on this:
Whether to do SCBCD exam before the SCDJWS exam or the other way?
Do I need to have any knowledge on the syllabus of SCBCD exam for the SCDJWS exam?
According to the Sun's requirements, there is no such need. But I am asking from the experienced people,
whether it will be easy to do the SCDJWS exam after doing SCBCD exam or there's no such similarities with the two exams.
What's the best way? Please give your suggestions.

Please advice me in this regard.

Thanks in Advance,
Umashanthi

Java Web Services and EJB are very different. You don't need to have knowledge about EJB to take SCDJWS, and you will need just a little bit knowledge about how to expose Stateless Session Bean as Web Services in SCBCD.

However, SCDJWS is harder than SCBCD because it requires so many topics to study.

Hi all,
I have just cleared SCWCD and thinking of what to do next.I am working on a crap porject and want to come out of it and work as a developer. My job does not demand any understanding of EJB or web services. So I want advice on whether to go with BCD or JWS? I dont have any knowledge on both technologies and want to go by industry demand. Is the latest BCD exam update to EJB 3 version ? And also heard that new version of JWS is about to be launched - so should I wait until the new one is launched?

I am really confused. pelase help me out
Any help is appreciated.

hello,

SCDJWS has just been updated (CX-310-230), so there will not be another update soon. SCBCD 5 (CX-310-091) is the latest version, and it refers to EJB 3.0 and JPA 1.0.

My impression is that the skills required to pass SCDJWS are in higher demand. Many of the topics refer to standards that are not specific to Java EE, like SOAP and WSDL. The basis for this assessment are bid requests for freelancers in Germany.

As a very recent development, there seems to be good study material for the latest SCDJWS now. The problem is that there are not enough mock questions around - that I know of. This seems to be the best study guide: http://www.javaforum.se/jforum/posts/list/549.page

For SCBCD 5 there are preparation kits. I recommend the one from Enthuware.

Personally I just don't dare to go for SCDJWS without mock questions. They are an essential part of my preparation. SCDJWS and SCMAD are the only Sun Java certificates I don't have.

Hi Kai,
So the above is THE "good study material for the latest SCDJWS" ? Wouldn't seem to be a lot, but would be better then nothing if the download worked (not working from here right now). Have you seen other such accessible material that you could enlighten me to for J2EE 5 certification? Everything else I've seen is specific to 1.4

thanks,
Karl

hello,

it's called Java EE 5 now. No, that's all there is. The rest is crap. http://java.boot.by/scdjws5-guide/ will probably become as good as the other study guides from Mikalai Zaikin, but it is not finished yet.

Kai
