Servlet - Standalone App communication (file transer)

i want to transer the file from my web server(tomcat) to client machine which request. The request will not be made from the browser but it will be made from the jar (standalone java application) can anyone help me how to handle it?

Which part are you stuck on?
The servlet that delivers the file or the client app that requests it?

Depending on your needs you might not even need a servlet on the server side.
If you put the file in a web accessible directory on your app/web server your client should be able to pull it down as it would any web page.

Ben , reason why we need servlet is , it is not static files as the file was generated on demand based on request from the Standalone app. The part i got struck was clent side.

The main thing to consider is it is not single file but multiple files, but i planned to give single request and get series of file continously . is it possible? if not please tell how to send the date from servlet to client.

i need the transport part. Is it like writing the data to stream and reading back the stream to files or any other way?
