hi.. i am trying to modify .java files from existing war file, compile and again save as war file and then use it. I tried importing the war file into a simple project in eclipse and im not able to compile the java files (actually save button also remains inactive, right_click_on_project > Properties dialog box Java Build Path option is not seen ). <br>
<p> While importing war file, i tried doing it directly through 'import' option. And also by first extracting into folder and then importing. Both ways, the above mentioned problem is seen.
what am i doing wrong. Any i/p on this is apprceiated.

First this question is well suited in IDEs-Version-Control-other-tools section, after follow this link about importing war file. And its hard to have a solution to your problem, I'm not getting any idea about How you are importing war file OR I'm not getting it right .

yes im importing in the same manner as shown in the link; selecting war file from the Import option. The problem is im not able to save the files (i.e., it gets saves as a text file when i do ctrl+s and save button remains inactive . in essence, no compilation) where as im able to compile and a run a simple java project. I want to edit the java files in the war and save and then make a new war file.
so obviously, when i try to make a war file , deploy in AS and execute.. its giving error.

If i had missed mentioning any useful info..please let me know.

That's really annoying. May be original Java files are saved as text files, like "Test.java.txt", buts that's my guess. Attached your war file here, that's help us to solve your problem.
