I was wondering if anybody had insight into this (or maybe the original interview reads this forum!).
I was once asked this question in an interview for a mid-level Java position, in the fall of 2007.
I told him my preference (Washington) and when he asked "why", I told him.
The deciduous rainforest and the climate is to my liking.
He followed up with "no". Aside from that, "why"?
Huh?
Tech company? Silicon Valley/Apple vs. Microsoft?
No. Why?
Women?
No. Why?.
Culture & Mindset?
No. Why?.
Food?
No. Why?
Demographics?
No. Why?
Earthquakes vs. Mount St. Helens?
No. Why?
Grrr. I thought about it and queried him for about five to 10 minutes to see if I can get anywhere and I finally asked to move on.
To be honest I should've walked, as it soured me on the rest of the interview which took up three hours and left me a bit drained!
And to this day, I'm still wondering what that was all about!

It was a test to see how long it took you to figure out that the interviewer was a jerk.

In that case, I failed miserably
And sour apples or not, all for the best.
