Process the xml on web

Hi,
I'm pretty new at XML, I am developing a web screen to allow user to choose the xml, and the web application also need to parse the data on xml file and save the data to corresponding db fields.
May I know what is the best approach for this? Some xml files are quite big in the requirement.
