default eclipse formatter formates code in very hard to read formate
i tried windows-> preferances-> web-> html
but did not find any formatter to edit like for javascript and java.

Hi Steve,
Go to Window > Preferences > General > Editors > Structured Text Editors.
There in Appearence tab you can change the colors.
This should be in IDE forum

And you have more options in Web > JSP files > Editor
