Dear Mr. Hkalid Mughal & Rolf Rasmussen:

I am delighted to receive the invitation to participate in the SCJP forum for the week April, 21- 24, 2009, more so with accomplished authors on Java SCJP exams on the forum this week.

Anyone who has studied the Programmers Guide to Java SCJP by the authors can easily testify to the authority and clarity brought by the great scholars to the Java test preparation, but most importantly, the ability of the authors to motivate students to fall in love with the Java programming model through their step-by-step approach to the objectives of the SCJP exam.

My question is with the latest edition on SCJP 6, what happened to SCJP 1.5 exams? Is the new book good for both SCJP 1.5 and 6 exams?

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Martins Adegoke

Why are you even thinking of SCJP 1.5 ?

Welcome to JavaRanch.

The difference between SCJP 5 and 6 is only small, see our SCJP FAQ for more information. Any book for SCJP 5 will also cover 95% of what you need to know for SCJP 6.

Thank you for acknowledging my previous posting. In your response, you wrote,

"Any book for SCJP 5 will also cover 95% of what you need to know for SCJP 6."

Can we also assert same claim for the new publication from Khalid Mughal and Rolf Rasmussen on SCJP 6.0 for SCJP 1.5 exam.

Please be assured that I am aware that there are other good text books from other reputable Authors on SCJP 5 and 6.

Thank you.

You can certainly claim that for this book too. But really, why are you thinking of SCJP1.5 ?? If you want to go for SCJP, go for 1.6.

Dear Martins Adegoke,

Our third edition will get you through SCJP 1.5, if you are so inclined.
When you are putting in all that effort, why not opt for the latest exam?
Good luck!

I would like to thank Mr. Khalid Mughal, who is highly esteemed for a great job on the SCJP preparations by many Java greenhorns and veteran java Programmers. Your works on Java speak for itself.

I would also like to thank everyone who responded to the thread of this discussion on SCJP 5 and 6.

I believe I have already mastered the basic essentials of the J2SE, the core foundation for J2EE and Web services technology. If time permits, I may take the SCJP 6, especially with the new book on SCJP 6 by Mr. Khalid and his fellow author.

Again, thank you all.

Sincerely,
Martins Adegoke

Hi there all!
I'm just curious about which certification would woth the time and money, as I planned getting first SCJP 1.4 and then 1.6. would it be enough just getting 1.6?..instead of going for both.
Thank you!
