Initially Bollywood actress claimed that she faced racism. For the first time people saw her non-glycerine tears.!! I think everybody in UK and India was overreacting.I also heard there was an uproar in British parliament!!.Indian politicians too were ahead for getting publicity.Media, especially Times Of India tried to make it as a national campaign. 'Fortunately' yesterday I saw both Jade/Shetty smiling at each other and Shilpa Shetty saying "It was not act of racism'!!Channel 4 seems to have lot of money.

Be it for the good or the bad, Channel 4 should pay Jade somethin' extra for kickstarting the whole farce and, thereby, the popularity of Big Brother......

Guys this is one subject that sits right on the line of "meaningful/meaningless" so please don't say anything that would topple it over onto the meaningful side as we'll only be force to trash the whole thing.
Yes the issues of racism and bullying are very meaningful, it's only the fact that is Big Brother .. in fact "Celebrity" Big Brother that makes become meaningless. Don't add power to trash TV such as this by making it look like it has any meaning
Pounding at a thick stone wall won't move it, sometimes, you need to step back to see the way around.

I don't think there is anything to be debated here. Its just a bunch of guys making money :-). I haven't seen the show, but given the levels to which the media sometimes stoops for viewership, I wouldn't be too surprised if the whole thing was pre-scripted.
While going home from office I always see ad by Leeds University inviting people to do 'Masters/graduation in medicine/engg/computer".I believe its mid-size shop like any second rate private engg collge in India. Can anybody from UK confirms this??

Note that she, like hundreds of other people around the world at dozens of Universities, was given an HONORARY doctorate. Nobody really thinks this is the same thing as a REAL doctorate. She's not going to get a job as a professor with that.
It's a PR thing. The school gets some press, there are some great photo ops, the celebrity gets some more exposure and (often) a chance to speak, and the students get a brush with fame, and can talk about how cool/dumb their school is.

"I believe its mid-size shop like any second rate private engg collge in India." Why do you believe it is second rate?
