We need to pick one and the candidates are Struts2 and Spring MVC. They look pretty similar in what they do. Spring MVC was pretty confusing until 2.5 with plenty of base controllers to extend from. They seem to have fixed that issue with Annotation based controllers in 3.0 (which was introduced in 2.5). We need Spring web flow. How good is the Struts2 integration with Web Flow?
Struts2 Ajax tags look good but we don't use Dojo. The Struts2 notion of UI components looked nice. But I somehow didn't like the way things are done when creating your own custom UI components. May be I was expecting a JSF kind of approach for creating custom components.

We are leaning towards Freemarker for templating. Any idea on Freemarker performance when compared with JSP?

Do you guys have any suggestions / thoughts / had to go through a similar exercise?

thanks!
