This week's book giveaway is in the Mac OS forum. We're giving away four copies of a choice of "Take Control of Upgrading to Yosemite" or "Take Control of Automating Your Mac" and have Joe Kissell on-line! See this thread for details.
I've just finished my HNC at uni and am looking to going back to do my HND in september but before I do I want to get my Java skills up tp speed. I did some this year but I have to admit I struggled with some aspects and I've just been told we'll be doing more advanced aspects of java in the new class, gulp!
Left to my own devices I'm a terrible home learner but given goals and tasks and I'm fine which is why I'm looking very seriously at joining the Cattle Drive.
My only concern is that all of the testimonials I read were all from 2002 and the recommened book was published in 2002.
I'm hoping that I don't offend anyone here and I'm probably going to embaress myself by showing my lack of knowledge but are we learning old stuff or are the tutorials updated to reflect the newer verisons of Java? Also, I know there are several editions of the book and the review on Amazon quotes a comment from someone and then says the subject that the comment was made on has since been removed from the book. Are the tutorials updated to relect the updated contents of the book.
