Hi Everyone,
I am not sure what would be right place for this post.
I was just told by a friend, that if I have my gmail id let say abcdefg@gmail.com and I go to login in google.
Instead of providing my id as abcdefg if I give it as a.b.c.d.e.f.g and I provide my correct password. Then the google will take me to my account.
I tested this and he was right, he said google ignores all the dots (.) .
I was wondering what is actual reason behind it . Is it functional decision or it is a limitation with google ?

what i once heard was that this was a design feature of google mail. You could have your main address of "abcde@gmail.com", and you give that to your friends.
When you register on a website, you can give it "abc.de@google.com". If you need to register on a suspicious site you think may send you spam, you can register as "a.b.c.d.e@google.com".
If you track such things, you can then determine who sold your email to spammer, and also set up filters, sending all mail sent to a.b.c.d.e to your trash can.
