In Unix, we give kill -3 <pid> three times to generate thread dump.

Why don't we give this command once or more than three times

You get 1(one and only one) thread dump with kill -3 <pid> wich is sent to standard out for the chosen server.

Usually it's recommended taking 3 thread dumps in an interval of about 1 minute because doing so allows us to track how the threads are flowing in the server in that interval.
