Well, I do think men play a big role too, but I want to start the idea off with one aspect ...

First, I think the core of a lot of the problems in the world has to do with simple integrity. But our system so thoroughly rewards a lack of integrity. In fact, the lack of integrity has gotten so far out of hand that we have to have mountains of laws to cover all of the possible known "bad things" and then some things just aren't bad enough to make a law about, so it just becomes a problem that becomes accepted as "normal".

My impression is that many women appear to crave "the bad boy".

What would happen if the message was clear that women craved integrity above all else? Would the average integrity of men rise? Significantly?

Of course, the same can be applied for what men seek in women and then there is the whole gay/lesbian space. But I think the biggest impact would be with what women find desirable in men.

... and to kick it all off .... what if there was an article in Cosmo (does that mag still exist?) that said something like "research at johns hopkins university shows that woman have nearly twice as many orgasms with men that they think have high integrity."

(if you think this is crazy, you should hear the rest of the stuff the voices in my head keep going on and on about)

you're right I feel this is a cultural issue probably more evident in America where for some reason its "cool" to be bad. Its cool to be dumb and reckless.

I know that it was not always like this - I remember watching the movie pleasantville when the 2 characters go back in time in the 50's and are in a classroom when all the girls swoon not over the dumb jock but the studious guy who gets all the answers correct in class.

Im probably stretching this a bit too far by equating integrity with smarts but I think I am right on this. The smart ones generally are the ones who get picked on the most in school, as if to weed them out to create a society of cheerleaders and jocks. I don't know when this shift would've happened (maybe in the drive for female empowerment or feminism) women who were rebelling against a male centric world and for more rights ended up accepting themselves as the very stereotypes of mere sex objects to be used and discarded. A bad boy is celebrated by the media because he is in sync with this culture.

Maybe the bigger issue is not so much the commodification of women as mere sex objects but a culture which is all about consumerism. Use and discard without ever worrying about the consequences. Integrity means having to be consistent in your behavior being static in your character and not giving into dishonesty just because there is a short term reward to gain from it. I don't know what i'm writing.
